Taj Mahal 2
Top pic is proof that I was there & can now check it off my "bucket list"! The Taj Mahal was built by a king in honor of his beloved wife. It took 20,000 craftsmen 22 years to build it - 1631-1653. The semi-precious inlaid stones in the white marble were done by well-paid Persian artisans shipped to India. The bottom pic is of the main gate entrance to the Taj Mahal. Note the 11 domes on top - there are another 11 domes on top of the other side of this gate = a total of 22 - 1 for each year it took to build the Taj! Incredible & beautiful adjectives do not do it justice!
